These Falcons will not be outworked. Repeat, not outworked!

Which Air Force hockey players unleash the beast on a regular basis in practice, games and in their off-ice training? Who leads by example, and who has won the draw against adversity time and again?

The seventh part of AFAFlightPath.com’s exclusive Air Force hockey player survey tackles these questions.

Players were polled anonymously in early December. The survey included 25 questions that covered a range of skills. Nearly 80 percent of the players on the Air Force roster responded.

Now on to the seventh part of the survey:

Question 23: Which player consistently is the hardest worker on and off the ice?

  • Matt Pulver – 9 votes (41 percent)
  • Joe Tyran – 8 (36 percent)
  • Andrew Kruse – 2
  • Shawn Knowlton, Pierce Pluemer, Trevor Stone – 1

Analysis: The four seniors on this list, especially the top two vote-getters, were cited by strength coach Drew Bodette this summer as being leaders in the weight room and in getting teammates on the same page after a disappointing end to the 2018-19 season.

Question 24: Which player is the most resilient?

  • Joe Tyran – 6
  • Shawn Knowlton – 5
  • Matt Pulver – 4
  • Max Harper – 2
  • Marshall Bowery, Zach Mirageas, Pierce Pluemer, Luke Rowe, Trevor Stone – 1

Analysis: Just about every one of these guys has had to overcome a major injury, or in some cases multiple ones. Others have had other battles to fight, and how they went about that clearly has left a strong impression on their teammates.

Question 25: Which player consistently leads by example the most?

  • Matt Pulver – 15 (68 percent)
  • Pierce Pluemer – 3
  • Erich Jaeger, Joe Tyran – 2

Analysis: Four seniors, headlined by the captain. That’s how it works at the Academy.
