Imagine going off to college and majoring in physics or engineering or economics or management and pulling a 3.6 grade-point average. Not too shabby.
Imagine doing that while playing an NCAA Division I sport. That’s impressive.
Now imagine accomplishing that while playing a D-I sport at a U.S. service academy. More than impressive
Thirteen Air Force Academy hockey players met that criteria while playing in 40 percent or more of the Falcons’ games during the 2016-17 season. The 13 were recognized this week by the American Hockey Coaches Association as All American Scholars. The number tied Robert Morris for second most in Atlantic Hockey – and in all of Division I, behind American International’s 14. Ferris State also had 13 players honored.
The 13 are:
D Dylan Abood (electrical engineering, class of 2018)
F Erik Baskin (economics, class of 2018)
D Phil Boje (management, class of 2018)
F Evan Feno (economics, class of 2019)
F Kyle Haak (physics/nuclear weapons, class of 2019)
F Jordan Himley (economics, class of 2018)
D Johnny Hrabovsky (systems engineering, class of 2017)
D Matt Koch (operations research, class of 2019)
D Jonathan Kopacka (management, class of 2018)
F Ben Kucera (management, class of 2018)
F Tyler Ledford (management, class of 2018)
F Pierce Pluemer (finance, class of 2020)
F Matt Serratore (management, class of 2019)
