A trio of Air Force players earned all-Atlantic Hockey Conference recognition, as selected by the league’s coaches.

Junior defenseman Phil Boje was selected first team all-conference, while junior forward Jordan Himley was named to the second team and sophomore goalie Shane Starrett landed on the third team.

The all-conference honor was the first for Boje, who has 25 points (seven goals). Fifteen of his points came in conference play. The 25 points were second most among AHC defenseman. Boje has done it at both ends of the ice as his 69 blocked shots were the third most in AHC play. He has points in eight of his past 10 games as the Falcons (22-9-5) play host to Bentley in a best-of-3 AHC quarterfinal series this weekend.

Himley also earned his first all-conference honor after scoring 14 of his 18 goals in AHC play. The 14 were the second most in the conference. Overall, Himley has 30 points, including 11 in his past seven games.

Starrett was honored for the second season in a row. He was a first-team pick as well as an all-rookie selection last season. In AHC play, Starrett tied for third in goals-against average (1.90) and was fourth in saves percentage (.924). His .740 winning percentage was second in the league. In all games, he led the league in winning percentage (.767, a figure that is fifth nationally), was fourth in GAA (2.08, ninth) and fourth in saves percentage (.922, 11th). He also has three shutouts.

In addition, Starrett was selected one of 10 semifinalists for the Mike Richter Award. The award honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey. The five finalists for the fourth annual award will be announced on March 23, with the winner presented April 7 at the 2017 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four in Chicago.

Starrett is one of three AHC goalies among the final 10, joining Army West Point’s Parker Gahagen and Canisius’ Charles Williams. Two more have ties to Colorado – St. Lawrence’s Kyle Hayton and Denver’s Tanner Jaillet.

Congrats to those 3 guys. Well deserved! Haak deserves to be there as well. And Shane should be first team!
