Tyler Ledford is heating up. The junior, who lead Air Force in scoring last season with 27 points, has seven of his 12 points this season in his past eight games. The Colorado Springs native was gracious enough recently to take some sweet feeds and fire one-timers with us.
What is your favorite meal?
I like sushi.
Is that on the pregame menu here?
Ah, no. The pregame menu is pretty much chicken parm every time.
What’s your favorite hockey movie?
Probably “Mystery, Alaska”. Most people probably say “Miracle”.
Did you make a New Year’s resolution?
Yeah, I want to read more books. I’ve already ordered five books. I have a couple about a former Navy Seal. A Tim Tebow book.
Do you have a favorite road trip?
I liked the ASU one – it was warm finally. Robert Morris isn’t bad. I like Pittsburgh.
Do you have a favorite memory playing hockey?
When we went to Quebec. I went both with the (Colorado) Thunderbirds and the Littleton Hawks. The national championship game with the Thunderbirds was pretty cool. It was the first year of the Thunderbirds. Our coach was Kent Murphy. Maybe 10 years ago.
Are you particular about any of your gear?
Not really. I know a lot of guys have superstitions, but I just put it on. I don’t really care as long as it fits. If it breaks, get a new one.
Who are the team comedians?
I would say Kyle Mackey. Have you heard that one yet? He and (Jordan) Himley are roommates on the road. They’ll pull tricks on other rooms. They think they’re funny.
Did you have a favorite hockey player growing up?
My favorite was probably David Krejci (of the Boston Bruins). Recently it’s him and Johnny Gaudreau.
Who have been the big influences on your hockey career?
My brother. He played at Bentley, which is in our conference. My parents, obviously. And the Avs back when they had Joe Sakic, that really boomed the sport. Him, (Peter) Forsberg, Adam Foote.
Are you a music fan?
Yeah, I like music.
Any particular styles?
I like all across the board. Sometimes I like to play, too. I have a ukulele and a piano so I try to teach myself. I’m not great but I enjoy it.
